Boots
I'll take that and raise you a June 15th 88, mentioned this before
On the banks of a gravel pit as a kid, ready for the start of the fishing season, 16th midnight start
Prebaited for the tench with maple syrup flavoured groundbait, in shorts and boxers beneath. laying on the bedchair legs akimbo, in blistering heat and listening to Van Basten rip us a new one. Come dusk it was still muggy and I felt an itch on the star, so gave it a casual scratch - BIG MISTAKE
A bastard gad fly had navigated in right upon the sweaty ring and took exception to my scratching, savage pain which the fishing towel covered in maple syrup dipped in the water did not ease
Much to the amusement of my mates, boxers/shorts never worn fishing since

Don't laugh

Got bit on the arse whilst horse riding 35 odd years ago

Fly, not the horse !

Got an enormous absess, excruciating pain

Burst whilst I was in AandE waiting to be seen

Pain instantly went but made a mess of the gown I was wearing !

Natural cures are better than medication in some cases. I got a fungal infection under my middle toe nail from shower water in a shit hotel in Saigon during a 7s football tournament in November 2017. My to toe nail was 90o to my toe and I used all sort of drops and it kept coming back I used apple cider vinegar about 6 months ago and its gone and not come back

Ginger root is really good anti inflammatory as well. Make a jug of tea with 3 table spoons of grated ginger root stick it in the fridge and have a glass 3 times a day

If you are working and sweating, this makes them worse,, i found that vinegar helped a lot,and it was handy for my chips.I was told by a farmer if you get it on your lower legs piss on it,same as vinegar.

Horse flies are bastard things, for me the worst thing is they can make even the most docile 'bomb-proof' nag nervous and unpredictable and that is a far more dangerous thing than a fly
with a very painful bite.

Biting files be a pain on the beach if the wind is blowing the wrong way. For some reason they like my fair skin. The bite marks can be very painful too!

I feel guilty because when I'm with other people insect life prefers to bite them instead of me.

But only a little bit guilty.

My missus got bitten by one last summer and it was really painful and took over a week to start healing.I was with her and the little bastards were worse than wasps, they kept going for us well down the road.

If I get bitten on the right leg on the golf course it swells up like an elephants leg. Itches like hell, the pain also kicks in and my skin feels like it's going to explode. Only relief is an ice pack and it lasts a good week or so. If I get bitten on the left leg it itches a tad bar that no problem. The GP can't even work that one out!

Was bitten by a spider in Lyon. Whole elbow swelled up. I didn't realise spiders in Europe could be so venomous.

Re: Horse fly bites anyone ?
Get a teaspoon and put it in hot water..when it's hot (but not too hot to cause a burn)put it on the sting and it neutralises the poison
